March 2025 Newsletter
Greetings Yogie Fans!
We are a little late with our newsletter, but we were waiting for some confirmation of dates, having major email issues, as well as vet issues taking us away from the office.
TWENTY-FIVE YEARS: May 26th we will be celebrating our twenty-fifth anniversary? We would like to do a huge fundraiser to raise lots of cash for our rescue. Most of our needs end up being vet care, food, and cat litter. We would love to raise $25,000 for our rescue. We have over 21,000 facebook fans and followers and you would think that would be easy to do under the circumstances, but it is not.
One thing we can do is to get sponsors for all our cats. That would be a wonderful, and easy, thing to do for our cats. The easiest and fastest way to do that would be via PayPal. You do not have to have a PayPal account to do this and can do so through auto draft. You can also choose the friends and family option that allows you to pay the fees, which is not a lot, but would give us 100% of the donation. Just think. If we got monthly sponsors for all fifty-eight cats at $25 per month, that would give us $1450 per month. In the overall scheme of things in rescue that is not an extraordinary amount, but it does add up. And you can make your sponsorship even more than that.
Please consider sponsoring one, or more, of our cats. It would mess us our website, which is currently experiencing issues, so we don’t want to overwhelm it with photos and descriptions of each cat, but we can give you those if you would like it on cats, you are interested in. It is a very easy way to help our cats.
HONEY AND KITTENS: Excellent News! Honey and ALL five of her kittens have been adopted. We could not be happier. We want to thank Bossier City Animal Control and their Buddies of Bossier City Animal Control for helping us with these kittens. Their cat program is great, and we could not be happier. We are so glad we decided to partner with them to find homes for this sweet family. We recommend people check out this facility when looking for a pet. They have made some fabulous changes to their program, and we thank them for their help!
WEBSITE AND EMAIL ISSUES: Our webmaster said that there is an issue happening with our website that us non-tech savvy people don’t really understand what it is. Hopefully we can still continue to have a website. We hate to solely rely on Facebook.
As far as our email, we have no clue why things are not working properly and we are looking at trying to use Constant Contact for our newsletters as soon as Jenny figures out what we need to do to use it.
VET CARE:
Thanks to wonderful donors our vet bill gets cleared, then we get smacked with more issues. But, this is to be expected in rescue and we have fifty-eight permanent residents, so it is not a surprise.
Theo went to have a dental cleaning and our vets now do a dental CT of their mouth prior. Well, that unfortunately showed some more dental issues that anyone expected and resulted in nine teeth needing to be extracted. He is doing much better as a result.
Brexit. Our Director noticed over a few days that every time Brexit would go to the litter box and appeared to be attempting to urinate that nothing was not in the box after. He would make far too many trips into the box, so he went to the vet and the ultrasound showed his bladder was huge and filled with urine. He required sedation and a catheter. He has a history of urinary tract infections, that have done well with his special diet, but his urethra was blocked by inflammation. The vet added Gabapentin to his care and hopefully this issue will not repeat. He is feeling a whole lot better.
Unfortunately we have a remaining balance of $2485.14 at the vet clinic now. It never seems to end.
You can call the vet clinic directly at 318-747-5747 and donate over the phone.
Or you can PayPal at yogieandfriends@hotmail.com
Or Venmo at YogieCats
FOOD AND SUPPLIES: we desperately need help with food and litter. We have sixty-four mouths to feed. We need food and litter the most. We are down to one box of litter and one box of sixty count canned food.
PayPal and Venmo are the best, and quickest, ways to help. Then we can immediately go buy the supplies.

KROGER COMMUNITY REWARDS: Attention Kroger Shoppers. Please consider helping our cats when you shop at Kroger. Our Kroger Community Rewards number is GD567, and you can find us by our name as well, Yogie and Friends FIV Positive Cat Sanctuary. When you log into your Kroger account you can select us as your charity of choice and a part of your purchase will be donated to our rescue sanctuary.
SPONSORSHIP: We often speak of our sponsorship program and right now we are really trying hard to get all our cats sponsored. Sponsorship is a wonderful way to help support our cats. By sponsoring one of our Yogie cats, you will be providing food, limited medical care (we know that medical bills can get extremely high and do not expect a sponsor to cover it. Unless they can, and want to), and their basic care and support. 100% of the sponsorship goes to the care of these animals. If each cat had a regular, monthly, sponsor, it would help ease the financial burden of care for the animals we provide sanctuary for.
Please note that more than one person may sponsor a cat but rest assured that all sponsored funds are used for the ongoing care of our cats.
You can sponsor a cat for just $15 a month, $45 a quarter, or $180 a year. You can always contribute more. It all helps a great deal.
If you choose to sponsor a cat via PayPal or Venmo, please let us know the name of the cat you would like to sponsor.
WE CURRENTLY CARE FOR 58 CATS, as well as several feral cats we care for:
