May 2025 Newsletter
Greetings Yogie Fans!
Well, we have always heard that April showers bring May flowers, but in our case May has brought more showers in the first few days and they have been torrential! We have experienced some heavy rain and flooding in our area, but fortunately the sanctuary in Frierson, as well as our Bossier location, are fine. It is wet and messy, but we did not experience any damage. We are grateful for that.
We realize this newsletter is late, but we were waiting on some information we wanted to get into this newsletter before sending it out.
TWENTY-FIVE YEARS: May 26th is our twenty-fifth anniversary? We know this would not have been possible without the support of our fans, and we are grateful for you! Thank you for making it possible.
GIVE FOR GOOD: The time is here for the annual Give for Good online giving event. The event begins on Tuesday, May 6th. This is so important for us to raise much needed funds for the cats.
We do not get the attention that other rescues do because we do not do adoption events. We are different because we are a sanctuary, and our cats are permanent residents. That is a big responsibility to car for fifty-five cats for their lifetime.
We are, and always have been, a 100% volunteer driven non-profit organization.
Please consider us with your giving.
Thank you!

FINN: Finn’s health has been steadily declining over the past few months. He went to the vet on April 22nd for a follow-up because he was struggling even more. He had lost three pounds since his January visit and when Dr. Daville did an abdominal ultrasound she saw a mass on his liver the size of a grapefruit! There was nothing there in January. Finn has had serious medical issues over the years, and he just turned 18 years old on April 12th. We just could not see putting him through any aggressive treatment at this age and with his current condition. He has survived so much. The difficult, but kindest decision was made to help him gently over the Rainbow Bridge. It was the right thing to do. We will miss him, as we do all the ones we lost.
R.I.P. Finn 12 April 2007 – 22 April 2025
CHLOE’ AND BLACKIE: We had the opportunity to celebrate a happy occasion with Chloe’ turning 21 years old on May 1st and Blackie turning 18 years old on May 2nd. We have some old cats at Yogie and Friends, and it makes us happy that we have given them a good life at the sanctuary.
TILLMON/TILLY: We recently discovered that the kitten Jenny found, and we all thought was a girl, is a boy! So, we named him Tillmon. Tillmon was brought to the Friends of Bossier Animal Control to be adopted. This is the organization that got Honey, and her five kittens adopted in one week. They have a wonderful program, and he will get the exposure he needs for adoption.
VET CARE:
Vet care is always going to be one of our biggest issues. Sometimes it is just prevention, but most times it is a significant issue. But our cats do receive some excellent medical care, and it is one of the contributing factors in why they live so long.
Grayson had his follow-up, and he had some dental inflammation, but he is responding well to the meds. We do have a few of our senior and geriatric cats needing some vet care we are preparing for. One, Binx, is a concern because he is not a cat we can handle and if he requires long term medicine, then it will be problematic. But that is what our veterinarians are for. Their guidance is critical. Hopefully, we can get Binx well.
We have a vet balance of $1651.53 at the vet clinic now. It never seems to end.
You can call the vet clinic directly at 318-747-5747 and donate over the phone.

VENMO: Several organizations are having their Venmo accounts copied and sadly, donations being sent to thieves. Fortunately, we are told that the QR codes associated with an account cannot be changed, so it may be the best way to use Venmo. If this is true, and we are verifying that, we will start by including the QR code in our newsletter.
FOOD AND SUPPLIES: we always need help with food and litter. We have fifty-five mouths to feed. We need food and litter the most.
PayPal and Venmo are the best, and quickest, ways to help. Then we can immediately go buy the supplies.
