March 2022 Newsletter
Greetings Yogie Fans!
We do not mean to make it seem like there is so much sadness, but we realize that things do, and will, happen. We want to share a special tribute to one of our human friends.
Sharon Harmon sadly lost her earthly battle with an extremely aggressive form of cancer. We met Sharon several years ago when she asked if we would take in an FIV+ cat. Sharon was a long-time volunteer with Shreveport Bossier Animal Rescue, and she was an integral part of the organization. Sharon became a friend and over time we had the pleasure of working events, both individual, and combined, with the local animal rescues.
Sharon was also a local Realtor and very well known in the community. She was a wife, mother, daughter, sister, Nana, friend, and so much more, to so many.
Sharon will be missed more than anyone can imagine. Please keep the Harmon family in your prayers.

FACEBOOK BIRTHDAY FUNDRAISER: Jenny’s birthday was February 24th, and she did a Facebook fundraiser, which raised $660. She always does her age in multiples. Her goal was $620. A fan mailed a check, since she is not comfortable donating via Facebook, for $50. So, overall, the birthday fundraiser raised $710. The plus, they do not take out fees. The negative, they do not release the funds for 45-75 days. But it will come in. Thank you to everyone who made the birthday fundraiser a success.
COMIC CON: Comin Con was a fun success this year. We missed this event not being here over the past couple of years and it was a huge welcome to be able to participate in it again. We were part of the very first Comic Con this group held in the Bossier Civic Center, and we are so glad we were able to be part of it again. It was a lot of work for us physically, but so worth it. We met some great people, and it was great to network. Thank you to those who came out to support the cats.
SPRING BAKE SALE: We will have our Spring Bake Sale on Saturday, 9 April 2022, from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. at Petco, 6596 Youree Drive, Shreveport, Louisiana. Hope to see you there.
THE FANTASY FOUR: The four kittens and their mom are doing well, except for Miracle. Miracle seems to be struggling some with chronic, severe, diarrhea. The entire family had been treated for roundworms and coccidia. These are often difficult issues to treat because it means extra vigilant cleaning of litter boxes, and medication, which they really hate. But, with Miracle, she has a bigger issue with this. All the recent fecal samples, and the more in-depth culture of Miracles, came back negative. Dr. Daville suggested we place them on a high fiber food to help bulk things up. Please keep Miracle, and the entire litter, in your prayers that we get over this hurdle. Mom, Saphira, is spayed now, but the kittens are not yet fixed. We will wait until the vet thinks they are well enough to do so. Fortunately, they are in a situation that allows us to wait.
DONATION LINKS: We have added CashApp as another way for you to donate to Yogie and Friends. The following are the methods you can use to help the cats:
PayPal: yogieandfriends@hotmail.com
Venmo: YogieCats
CashApp: $YogieAndFriends
And as always, you can mail a check or money order to: Yogie and Friends, 128 Fob Lane, Frierson, LA 71027.
FOOD AND LITTER: We could really use some help with cat food and litter. Since things have been shut down for so long, we had no opportunity to do our normal fundraising. We hope you can help us in this area. What we use for our cats is Purina Naturals, Friskies Canned Pate, and Fancy Feast Pate. Regarding litter, any scoopable is good. Tidy Cat is usually the best because it is not as dusty. If you can help, you can PayPal a donation to yogieandfriends@hotmail.com or Venmo: @yogiecats. Thank you!
SPONSORSHIP: We often speak of our sponsorship program and right now we are really trying hard to get all our cats sponsored. Sponsorship is a wonderful way to help support our cats. By sponsoring one of our Yogie cats, you will be providing food, limited medical care (we know that medical bills can get extremely high and do not expect a sponsor to cover it. Unless they can, and want to), and their basic care and support. 100% of the sponsorship goes to the care of these animals. If each cat had a regular, monthly, sponsor, it would help ease the burden of care for the animals we provide sanctuary for.
Please note that more than one person may sponsor a cat but rest assured that all sponsor funds are used for the ongoing care of our cats.
You can sponsor a cat for just $15 a month, $45 a quarter, or $180 a year. You can always contribute more. It all helps a great deal.
If you choose to sponsor a cat via PayPal or Venmo, please let us know the name of the cat you would like to sponsor. We are currently working on the cat biographies, we will feature out cats in a section called, Cat Corner, to tell you what we know about each cat. We do not always have much information about those in our care, but hopefully we can give you some useful information about them. We have names on the list for you to choose a cat to sponsor.
