October 2014 Sanctuary Update
Happy October Yogie Fans and Friends,
Fall is officially here, but it still feels like summer. We are looking forward to the cooler weather coming soon. The big cats really like it too.
Yogie and Friends is still facing some hurdles. I am sure you’ve seen the news coverage, both on T.V. and in the papers. We have a great legal team both here in Shreveport, Baton Rouge, and Missouri working with us. For many reasons we are being very careful what we say here and on our Facebook page as we have found out just how closely our website and Facebook page is being watched. We always believe that cooler heads prevail and we think caution is always best. Just keep watching and we will also share what our legal team says is okay. Remember, we are fighting for the lives of these great, yet geriatric, big cats. We don’t want to do anything that will cause them harm. We want them to live out their remaining days with us. Thanks for understanding and just please, please, please, help us by continuing to support us financially, keep us in your prayers, and volunteer at an event or more.
We wanted to thank everyone for making the Indiegogo campaign a successful one. You have no idea how much we appreciate all our supporters for their dedication and love of these great animals. So thank you again very much!
We also want to send a special thank you out to Team USZA and all our volunteers for coming and helping us with some of the issues we are facing and for standing by us. We can’t thank you enough for all you have done for us and the big cats and we look forward to continuing to work together for the common goal of saving big cats throughout the country. Thanks so very much!
Eat a (Hot) Dog, Save a Cat: Saturday, October 4th starting at 11am and ending, well, when we are done. These events are fun, so we will work till about 4, 5, or whatever pm. We are going to be under the tents in the parking lot of Discount Tobacco 1201 Shady Grove in Bossier City. We will have hot dogs, chips, and bottled water for a donation of $5.00. We will also have some very cool tee shirts, stuffed toys, coffee mugs, Sedalia Jewelry earrings, baked goods and so much more. We will even have a couple of fun raffle items. We hope you will stop by.
Save Our Sanctuary (SOS): We have a GoFundMe campaign going on to help replenish our coffers. Here is the link: http://www.gofundme.com/ep5g0w
Fall Bake Sale and Fundraiser: We moved our fall bake sale to October 11th from 11am-4pm at Petco, Youree Drive, Shreveport. These are always a lot of fun. Please share with your friends. We always have some awesome items.
Combined Federal Campaign (CFC): CFC is in full swing right now, so if you are a Military member or Federal Employee we hope you will donate to Yogie and Friends via CFC. This program is easy and another good way to give financial assistance to the big cats. We hope you will please consider Yogie and Friends when making your CFC contribution. Our CFC number is 42427.
Kroger Community Rewards Program: It is time to relink your Kroger Plus Card for the Community Rewards Program. If you haven’t registered your Kroger Plus Card online yet, then you can do so at any time. Once your card is registered you can go to the Community Rewards Program page, select Yogie and Friends as your charity of choice and then link your Kroger Plus Card to the Rewards program. Every time an enrolled participant shops at Kroger using his or her Kroger Plus card, Yogie and Friends will begin accumulating rewards. In addition, once a household member enrolls his or her card, all linked Kroger Plus cards within that household will begin earning funds for Yogie and Friends. That is if you have selected us as your charity of choice and we sure hope you have. Please make sure you register your Kroger Plus Card on line and then link Yogie and Friends as your charity of choice. This only applies to Texas and Louisiana shoppers for us. Thank you in advance. Our charity NPO number is: 80724
Facebook: If you aren’t already following us on our Facebook page, then please go and like on us. We are very active on the page and share lots of photos and videos of the big cats as well as sharing upcoming events and educational information of big cats and domestic pets. Please help us increase our fan page like.
Financial Support: The recent upgrades to the facility and the change in diet for our big cats have taken a big chunk out of our coffers. But we know with your help we can continue with this fight to save our big cats and keep them healthy and safe from harm. Your financial support is always needed and much appreciated. We are a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization in good standing. We have always been, and remain, a 100% volunteer driven organization. Our normal monthly bills are: Water, Electric, Diesel fuel (truck), phone, and truck insurance. Other bills are liability insurance and vet care when needed. We are good managers of our funds and have no debt. We work hard on this to be good stewards of our money. This is why our donors are so important and we want you all to know how much we appreciate you for your continued support. Thank you!
Recycle Ink Cartridges and Cell Phones: Please consider helping us with our recycling program. Please don’t throw those old ink jet/laser jet cartridges in the trash. Give them to us. We recycle them and get cash for the cats. You can box up the cartridges; put a prepaid label on it that we will provide you, and then drop it off at any UPS shipping facility or they can pick it up at your business. If you need labels, then just contact us and we will get some to you.
