January 2024 Newsletter
Happy New Year!
Another year has come and gone, and it seems like it has so quickly! We hope and pray you all had a safe, and wonderful holiday season.
There have been many changes made at the sanctuary, and many more to come. We have high hopes for an amazing 2025. Changes that we cannot wait to share with our fans.
THANK YOU: There are so many people we want to thank. Of course, you, our awesome fans, who donate and make helping these cats possible. We know we could not do it without you!
We also want to say a special thank you to our webmasters, Damon, and Paige Bass, for creating and maintaining our website. They have been doing this for us for years and we cannot thank them enough for this kindness. It is much appreciated.
YOGIE GOODBYES: As expected in rescue, loss is part of the work. It is never easy. Here is who we had to say goodbye to during 2024.
Snowball 7 October
Smudge 23 September
Angel 31 October

KROGER COMMUNITY REWARDS: Attention Kroger Shoppers. Please consider helping our cats when you shop at Kroger. Our Kroger Community Rewards number is GD567, and you can find us by our name as well, Yogie and Friends FIV Positive Cat Sanctuary. When you log into your Kroger account you can select us as your charity of choice and a part of your purchase will be donated to our rescue sanctuary.
SPONSORSHIP: We often speak of our sponsorship program and right now we are really trying hard to get all our cats sponsored. Sponsorship is a wonderful way to help support our cats. By sponsoring one of our Yogie cats, you will be providing food, limited medical care (we know that medical bills can get extremely high and do not expect a sponsor to cover it. Unless they can, and want to), and their basic care and support. 100% of the sponsorship goes to the care of these animals. If each cat had a regular, monthly, sponsor, it would help ease the financial burden of care for the animals we provide sanctuary for.
Please note that more than one person may sponsor a cat but rest assured that all sponsored funds are used for the ongoing care of our cats.
You can sponsor a cat for just $15 a month, $45 a quarter, or $180 a year. You can always contribute more. It all helps a great deal.
If you choose to sponsor a cat via PayPal or Venmo, please let us know the name of the cat you would like to sponsor.
WE CURRENTLY CARE FOR 64 CATS, as well as several feral cats we care for:

Happy December Yogie Fans!
Where has this year gone?
ANGEL: On October 31st we had to say goodbye to our beautiful Angel. Angel, one of our cats in liver failure, has crossed the Rainbow Bridge. We knew her liver values had gotten worse, but her actions were surprisingly good despite it. Two days earlier, though, she had some vomiting and massive hair loss. These were signs of liver toxicity. She unfortunately had not responded to medication like we hoped, and the difficult, yet kind, decision was made. This is the awful part of rescue. More so when you have a lot of animals of an advanced age because we know what will eventually come.
Angel was an amazingly sweet girl who will be missed.
R.I.P. Angel. 5 May 2010 – 31 October 2024
CHRISTMAS BAKE SALE: Yogie and Friends will be holding their annual Christmas Bake Sale on Saturday, December 14th, 11 a., – 2 p.m., at Petco, 6595 Youree Drive, Shreveport. This event is going to be one of our largest ones to date. We have several bakers contributing to the event, and we have confirmation of some amazing goodies for this event. We also have a much larger raffle event than we have ever had with some awesome items. We cannot wait to see you there.
BELLA NONNAS DAY: Thank you to Bella Nonnas for making this another wonderful day for the cats. Thank you to all who came out, or purchased items via their website, to support our animals. We appreciate you all!
CYBER MONDAY: We are desperately low on cat food and cat litter and this is an excellent time you can help even more. Right now we know that Chewy is offering some amazing discounts and coupons and we do have a wish list with them. If you can help us fulfill some of these needs on Cyber Monday, it would help a great deal.

GIVING TUESDAY: Giving Tuesday is an online Facebook event being held this Tuesday, December 3rd. and you may be able to donate to Yogie as your cause by visiting the Giving Tuesday website. If you are on Facebook this is the link to our campaign.

HONEY AND KITTENS: Honey and her kittens, the ones who were named in honor of beloved loved ones we lost, will be part of the 5th Annual Kitty Extravaganza being hosted by Hand-in-Paw Rescue and Port City Cat Rescue. Since the event is at the same time as our Christmas Bake sale our friends with Hand-in-Paw Rescue will be bringing them to the event. This is a sweet and pretty kitty family, and we hope they get adopted soon. They are ready! The event will be held on December 14th from 10 a.m. – 3 p.m. at the Viking Drive Veterinary Hospital, 4250 Viking Drive, Bossier City, Louisiana. Go out and meet all the cats and kittens looking for their forever homes.
Come by our bake sale at Petco and stock up on baked goodies and Yogie merchandise, then run over to the Kitty Extravaganza and adopt yourself a new family member.
VET CARE:
We have a remaining balance of $1206.26 at the vet clinic thanks to a recent donor, reducing our balance by a great deal. We have amazing fans!

November 2024 Newsletter
Greetings Yogie Fans!
We hope this newsletter finds you all healthy and happy!
Paws in the Park was another success! Thank you to everyone who came out and supported it. Thank you to Realtors to the Rescue for doing this event every year. We have a lot of fun doing it and it gives us a chance to meet our fans, as well as catch up with our fellow rescue friends. Thank you all again!
LYNN GRIFFIN: On Wednesday, October 23rd, Jenny received a phone call from the sister of a friend in California. She was told that Lynn Griffin had sadly died on September 25th. Lynn, a Shreveport native had been a longtime friend and fan of Yogie and Friends. She will be dearly missed by so many. We send our thoughts and prayers to her family.
SNOWBALL: On Monday, October 7th, we lost let another beautiful cat soul, Snowball. Snowball was found as a kitten with his mom, Mama Kitty (we have two with that name, so it got confusing for a while) and his two litter mates, Smokey, and Bandit. During the morning feeding, Jenny noticed he was not running towards the food like he usually did. She also noticed his breathing seemed labored and she did not waste any time getting him to the vet. He had a massive amount of fluid in his chest and abdomen. He was failing fast, and the decision was made to let him go gently. It is never an easy decision, but most often the kindest one.
We will miss this sweet boy. R.I.P. Snowball. You were very loved.
4 December 2008 – 7 October 2024
ANGEL: On October 31st we had to say goodbye to our beautiful Angel. Angel, one of our cats in liver failure, has crossed the Rainbow Bridge. We knew her liver values had gotten worse, but her actions were surprisingly good in spite of it.
Angel was an amazingly sweet girl who will be greatly missed.
R.I.P. Angel. 5 May 2010 – 31 October 2024
BELLA NONNAS DAY: We hope you get a chance to come to Bella Nonnas Olive Oil and Vinegar Tasting Bar on November 23rd between 10a.m. and 3 p.m. Bella Nonnas will donate a percentage of what they make on this day to Yogie and Friends. If you have never been to Bella Nonnas before, you will not be disappointed. They have great gifts and wonderful products. You will have the opportunity to taste pure olive oil and vinegars, as well as get recipe ideas. Yogie and Friends will have some baked items with Bella Nonnas olive oil to give you a sampling of the diversity of the products. They also give two to three dollars off refills, depending on the bottle size, as well as offering military discounts. You can also purchase via their website, and we will get credit from it. This is always an enjoyable day for us. Please stop by and check it out.
HONEY AND KITTENS: Honey’s kittens had quite a time recently. It began when Jack spiked a fever of 106.4. The normal temperature for cats is 100.5 – 102.5. Jenny rushed him to the ER where he received fluids, as well as a steroid and antibiotic shot. It worked for a brief time, then it was to our regular vet the next morning with a temperature of 104.6. He was placed on I.V. fluids for a couple of days and responded well. Then over the next few days Polly, Mary, and, Rosana, spiked fevers. Mary took the longest to recover and spent five days in the hospital. David was the only kitten who did not get sick. Fevers in kittens are often a sign of so many different things. They did not show any signs of calicivirus, but Mary started limping and another cat rescue said they had this happen to a litter of kittens and they had, Limping Calicivirus. Either way, the treatment they received would have been the same as any virus. So far, they are all doing well and are being monitored closely. When they are fever free for two weeks, they will receive their second set of kitten shots. Of course this made our vet bill crazy again.
As soon as Honey, the mother cat, has recovered from her spaying, she and the kittens will be placed for adoption.
VET CARE:
Uncle Fester: Uncle Fester has successfully completed treatment on his nose, and he is healed! We are getting ready to place him up for adoption and cannot wait to see him get a home to be pampered and spoiled.
With medicine and several medical issues with the cats, our vet bill is over $4300. It is stressful, and as always, we can use your help.
You can call the vet clinic directly at 318-747-5747 and donate over the phone.
